Beyond Home is a media, research and convening platform examining the careers, companies, capital, knowledge and obligations that stretch across borders — and the systems that help or hinder them.
Mission
To document what people build beyond home — and produce useful evidence about the systems connecting home and host markets.
Public discussion about migration often concentrates on departure and arrival. It spends less time on what can follow over the next decade or two: professional seniority, businesses, scientific work, family obligations, investment, philanthropy and relationships that operate across jurisdictions.
Beyond Home begins with the African diaspora because the combination of mobility, remittances, investment, knowledge transfer and cross-border identity creates a particularly rich field of inquiry. The framework is intentionally broader and can extend to other internationally mobile communities over time.
Founding hypotheses
These are propositions Beyond Home intends to test through interviews, public data, surveys and institutional research. They are not presented as settled findings.

Editorial principles
How we work
Independence
Editorial decisions are made by Beyond Home. Partners and sponsors do not approve guest answers, findings or conclusions.
Curiosity
We start from questions rather than conclusions, and give people enough time to explain the systems behind their choices.
Evidence
Where evidence exists, we cite it. Where we are testing a hypothesis, we label it as such. Estimates are identified as estimates.
Dignity
Our subjects are people with full lives, not case studies in migration. We do not trade in hardship for effect.
Disclosure
Commercial relationships are disclosed clearly and close to the content or research they support.
Separation
Commercial conversations are separate from editorial judgement, and commissioned work is clearly distinguished from independent editorial output.

The host
Germain — Founder & Host
Germain founded Beyond Home to investigate questions he encounters across governance, risk, technology, international mobility and cross-border systems.
That perspective shapes the interviews. The conversation is less interested in abstract identity than in how decisions were actually made, what systems helped or hindered them, and what institutions could learn from those experiences.
The aim is not to romanticise mobility or return. It is to understand how people build across more than one place, and what happens when the systems around them do not travel as easily as they do.

An Impact Horizon initiative.
Beyond Home is the public media, research and convening platform. Impact Horizon is the parent initiative supporting the broader institutional and commercial architecture around the programme.
Editorial outputs, independent research and commissioned work are labelled and governed separately. A commercial relationship does not entitle a partner to determine guests, answers, research findings or published conclusions.
