The rules we work to, written down.
Beyond Home is built to be relied on by institutions. This charter states the standards our editorial and research work is held to, and what commercial partners can and cannot influence.

Editorial independence
Editorial decisions — what we cover, who we approach, what we conclude and what we publish — are made by the editorial team alone. No partner, sponsor, adviser or funder has approval rights over any of them.
Commercial discussions are held separately from editorial ones and are never conducted by the person making the editorial decision at hand.

Public interviews and confidential research are separate
The conversations programme is public journalism. The research programme is confidential social research analysed in aggregate. They are run as distinct workstreams.
Research responses are never used to source, brief or illustrate an interview, and interview material is never entered into a research dataset. A person who takes part in both does so under two separate consents.

Guest consent and pre-interview briefing
Every contributor is briefed before recording: the themes to be covered, the expected length, how the material will be edited and distributed, and that questions may be difficult.
Consent is recorded before publication, and no contributor is named on this site before an episode is published with their agreement. Contributors may decline any question and may ask for a factual clarification to be reflected before release.
We do not present a contributor as endorsing any product, institution or investment.

Right of reply
Where our work makes a specific criticism of an identifiable organisation or person, we put the substance to them before publication and give a reasonable period to respond.
Responses are represented fairly in the published work, and a refusal to comment is reported neutrally.

Corrections
Errors are corrected promptly, openly and in place. A correction states what was wrong, what is now correct and the date of the change; we do not silently amend published material.
Significant corrections to research outputs are notified to participants and partners as well as published. Corrections can be requested at any time by writing to us.

Non-partisan framing
Beyond Home does not support parties, candidates or campaigns, in any country. Political subjects are covered in terms of policy mechanisms and their measurable effects.
Where a topic is genuinely contested, we set out the competing positions and the evidence for each rather than adopting one.

Disclosure of sponsor relationships
Commercial relationships are disclosed clearly and close to the content they relate to, including where a partner funds a season, a forum or a piece of research.
Sponsored formats are labelled as such and are visually distinct from editorial material. A partner's own commentary is attributed to the partner.

No conclusion is for sale
No episode, report, briefing or index is offered for sale of its conclusions. Funding may support capacity — production, fieldwork, convening — and nothing else.
Partners and sponsors cannot select conclusions, suppress findings, approve responses or influence country rankings. This clause is written into every agreement and applies without exception.
